Hi all,

I've been having fun with my Auto S2, however my most recent roll of film had a number of sequential blank frames when it came to developing. There was 4 of 5 blank frames, then some shots and then another blank frame. I'm trying to think why this might be, as it seems to fires ok. I seem to recall the x/m switch on the lens shifted between the two at some point and wondered whether that would effect things? I was shooting in Auto mode for the whole reel and only adjusting the shutter speed.

If anyone has any thoughts I'd be most grateful!

Thanks!

Blank, that is, underexposed so heavily that no any sign of light are on frames?

What happens when setting exposure manually?

That is, I'm trying to separate meter weakness from sticky shutter. If shutter would fire even at 1/500 and f/16 there would be at least some exposure assuming it happens during daylight?

Remember to take the lens cap off.

That was my first check..!

I've replaced the battery.

I've just run a roll through the S2 and there is some sporadic behaviour with the shutter release in that sometimes it doesn't depress - almost like something is stopping it from depressing. I've run through all the shutter speeds and they all seems to work to time. Is there something that would stop the release? Just a bit odd as the camera was supposedly CLA'd before I purchased it.

The design is meant to prevent the shutter releasing in Auto setting if the exposure will not be acceptable. Eg. if the lens cap is still attached. This is not the case when setting aperture manually.

Thanks. That's good to know. I'm still at a loss of the blank frames but maybe it is just a case of underexposed frames. Would a low battery account for underexposed frames?
