My experience with a Vivitar 35ES and a Pentax ME is that these only allow to fine tune the meter. With both cameras adjusting the switch changes the exposure between -0.5 to +1 stop.
Enjoy the S2 even without a meter, it is a good fun camera.

Did you pick that component at random or better phrased, what pointed you to that CdS cell?

Trial & lots of error. Got a few cells with the same diameter and a range of resistance and tried each to get as close to a known meter reading. They’re only a few bucks each. The physical size limits the choice more than anything.

If I'm seeing this well, looks accurate enough for films. Does the error get bigger when light is too low or too bright?
