I found a working example of this camera and it arrived today. It has no lens cap. I need to either put a filter on it to protect it, or ideally to put a lens cap on it to protect it and to turn the meter off when not in use. I tried to measure the front of the lens, which looked like 51mm, but that can't be right, although I suppose the original cap was probably a push-on type, which would be ideal.

Does anyone know what size lens cap I need, or what filter size I should use?

The filter size is 49mm. I used a square Praktica wide angle 49mm metal hood for it. IIRC the meter is only activated when the button is pressed. More infos at the CQ site.

You're lucky. 49mm is a standard size for many filters and hoods. I use Heliopan 49mm round hood and filters for many of my compact RFs. I use Heliopan step-up rings to get to that size if not already.

The 49mm hood:

mounted on the S3 (it did not vignet, and not intrude much into the VF)

Thanks for the info. Have ordered a 49mm Konica push-on cap from eBay, and hope it fits. I think I have a 49mm UV filter at home languishing on an old Pentax lens. Yippee!
