I've had a few of these cameras (3), and it is a great automatic camera. It has an excellent lens, good for the time meter, and a nice range finder (better than most). Draw backs are it is cheaply made, but it was $45.00 at the Px in 1971, so what would expect. On some models they used I think stainless steel wire which is impossible to solder, so contacts are a problem. I have used over the years every type of film with mine: E-6, C-41, and many B&W. When one is working fine and you don't feel like you are going to the gutter by using an automatic, it is a great compact little camera.

I think this is a tough metering situation, but the C-35 handled it well:

Well, the thing is my C35 works almost fine. I say almost because when flash unit is attached the camera still sets aperture and time adequate to what electric-eye sees (reflected light), while the meter needle in the viewfinder should show combination of shutter speed and aperture according to the flash GN, film ISO and distance to the object on which the lens is focused.

I dont't use original flash dedicated for C35 (X-14, X-20) as it's quite hard to find one. The one I use is Revue Tron SEL (similar size, a bit stronger - GN 21).

Any idea what the problem could be?

BTW, Revue Tron SEL flash was sold together with Revue 700 SEL camera which is one of Konica C35 clones.

Are you sure that you understand the Flash feature on the C35. It is a little complicated, but explained on page 21 here:
