I just got the black finish Konica C35 and I need to get into the front of the lens but the black version has a chrome finish decorative ring around the front of the lens, rendering it impossible to remove the spanner ring in the Filter thread. How do you remove the decorative ring?

I've torn a normal (silver) C35 apart before but it doesn't have that obstructive chrome ring on the front of the lens.

Rich, you're going to have to make a spanner that will fit between the filter ring, and the name ring. If you look at the larger version of the photo below (click on the photo to go to Flickr), you can just make out the slots at the end of "f=38mm", and just past the end of "1:2.8". You've only got 3mm of room to work with, so the end of the spanner blade cannot be much more than 2mm wide, and total width of the tool measued at the outer edges of the spanner blades should not excede 44mm.

Not sure if it's important, but set the ASA to it's lowest setting before removing the name ring, as a starting point for reassembly. Good luck.

I'm sorry. I have a "Lemon". The front of my lens isn't stock, it's been morphed from something else. I didn't figure it out until after asking. Luckily I might not have to get into the lens. I've done it before like I said, but this morphed filter ring has a flange that comes in and I thought it was stock

Glad to see over on KyPhoto that you solved the problem. I dare say you would have had a whale of a time getting a filter to go on there. Maybe it was some type of modification to be able to fit the camera in a viewing port, or on a telescope.

Possible! Got it put back together last night, tested the meter this morning, WORKS!, now to adjust the infinity. Thanks
