Konica C35: what is THIS??? and where is my rangefinder????

please solve this mystery:

try to revive this C35 with stuck winder.
yes, i did revive the winding crane, shutter click open good, but at one speed only.
the meter is not working, must have been a bad contact.

mystery no.1:
a little piece of metal fall out when i open the top plate. where does it belong to?

mystery no.2:
the focusing was good when i first play with the camera
but it is lost now,
i can rotate focus ring freely but the double image do not align...in fact they don't move a bit.
what did i do wrong?

are these two mystery related?

I've never had one of those apart so I can't answer your question but they are such cheap little cameras that you might just be better to find another one. Come to think about it, I've actually got one sitting on my shelf collecting dust at the moment. It's in nice shape except for needing new light seals; a task I've not bothered to tackle because I'm just not interested in shooting film anymore. I could probably be talked into sending it to you in exchange for some postage money...

the only thing is i live far far away in the east...though having a working C35 is tempting...😎

as you have said, Konica C35 is dirt cheap, no one bothers so there's very little repair info...but then that make it the "perfect victim" for a camera-idiot (that's me) to put hands on.

what's better to learn more about camera mechanics than by actually dismantling (and hopefully repairing) one?
