Konica Hexar AF error with new rechargeable Battery

I just bought a new rechargeable battery to use in my Konica Hexar and I’m getting error messages very often. I don’t know if it is the camera that is getting hold or the new battery that is not fully compatible. The battery works fine in one other camera that I have Minolta 7000i

Is it possible that the lens has too much power for the Konica AF? In the box of the battery its written high power 2,5 A !

Can any one give me some input?

2.5 A should be plenty.

Check the contacts. If the camera works with a normal battery
and the contacts are clean, maybe the rechargable battery has
lower voltage.

The voltage may be too low. Rechargeables tend to operate at lower voltages than regular lithium batteries. Cameras use voltage to check whether the battery is any good.

When digital cameras took AA batteries (in the really olden days), you always got better life out of NiMH because they only ran at 1.2v but ran at that voltage until they died. An alkaline would start at 1.5v and quickly drop below 1.2. So paradoxically, NiMH batteries with MaH ratings lower than alkaline (i.e., lower than 1500) would last a lot longer - because the camera would see an alkaline battery below 1.2v as "dead."

Real lithium 2CR5s are not that expensive, and the AF gets about 40 rolls per battery. They seem to be good on the shelf for about 2 years once you start using them. Rechargeables tend to self-discharge, which dramatically increases the chances you will end up with a dead battery.

Also, who is selling 2.5A 2CR5 rechargeables? No reputable manufacturer is rating 2CR5s that high. Rechargeable lithium-ion 2CR5s run about 0.6A, or 40% of the rating of a disposable 2CR5 battery (1.5A). Rechargeables are also four times as expensive as disposables. So the business case for this is...?

But rechargable batteries are usually only 1.2-1.3 volts. Not enough to run cameras that require 1.5v AAA or AA batteries...
Don't use rechargable batteries in older film cameras.. .not enough juice.

Get Alkalines.. curve drains off fast or Lithium... flat curve. However, watch lithiums on very old cameras...
