Hi guys
so I'm about to get started using my Hexar AF.. I was wondering if you could tell me which rolls to use?
I'm thinking of Ilford XP2 400, Kodak T-max 400
or would you suggest a 100 film?

I have been using Ilford XP2 in my Hexar and find it a really nice match.
I've got 3 images in my gallery if you want some examples.

I FIND THAT UNEXPOSED FILM WORKS BEST.

Don't sweat the film choice -- pretty sure the Hexar can handle them all quite nicely. Film choice depends on personal preference and prevailing conditions, methinks.

Isn't the shutter limited to 1/250 on the Hexar? Not sure about the smallest aperture but 400 speed in bright light would clearly benefit from an ND.

The Hexar stops down to f/22 so with ISO 400 film it's just within the limits for bright sun. In other words, not much of an issue, unless you want shallower dept of field.Isn't the shutter limited to 1/250 on the Hexar? ^Yep, that would be one reason why it would "benefit from an ND" which is what I said. Overexposure isn't the only concern here.

IR film. Take advantage.
Do be aware of the filter distance issues as you can get a lockup forcing the battery removal and premature film rewind. IOW/ keep track of your exposure number if you use a filter.

My first roll is an expired Reala 100. let's see. But I do think that the XP2 looks really nice indeed (and its C41, I happen to have a C41 Tetenal kit at home, so its easy to develop it).

Probably 100 for bright light due to the 1/250th top speed, 400 (I like Tri-X) the rest of the time. When Using the Tri-X in daylight I use a Red Filter (takes off 2 stops) and set it at 100 asa manually.

On the Hexar, I once accidentally exposed 400 ISO film at ƒ/2 on a bright sunny day. It was salvageable. Don't sweat ISO or top shutter speed too much.
