18 months ago, I got a Konica IIIA, in pretty good condition, but it doesn't fire about 20% of the time. Otherwise, it works great. In any case I heard that Greg Weber was recommended for vintage Konica camera service, so I sent it to him for a CLA. He said he was a little backed up but would get back to me with a quote for a CLA. I sent it to him in Apr last year, with a letter in the box with my contact info and issues with the camera. I received confirmation that the package was delivered.
Fast forward to this year, I still hadn't heard anything from him, so I tried calling and emailing him a month ago. No response to email. Phone mailbox is full. What to do?

I'd keep trying and failing that in the next two weeks, ask for the camera back.
Where is this guy located?
edit: Having just read what I think is his web site (Fremont NE?), your camera may have been sold if he wasn't able to get in touch with you, based on what he says about abandoned cameras.

Sorry you had this happen to you. This does not sound like a prima Dona issue. Perhaps he has failing financial or health issues. Maybe someone here will help you find out about him.

Yes, I do hope Greg is OK. Really nice guy who's done top-notch Konica work for me in the past.

Update: Greg picked up my call today. He says that he'll be sending the camera back to me soon. He's had some health problems and will not be able to continue doing any more camera repairs. He says he'd love to find someone to buy all of his parts--he bought out Konica when they went out of business and he still has A LOT of old cameras and parts. He says he doesn't know anyone who would be willing or able to take on this Konica line of repair business.

I had a similar problem several years ago with Weber and posted a note on Photonet stating my problem and advising that I planned to go to his State's Attorney General for assistance; Bingo, within hours I had a reply; evidently one of his friends saw my post and alerted him. I purchased a IIIA from him and have had it serviced locally here in NJ with no issues.

The old Konca cameras are really great cameras. I've got several that had some problems and I've learned to work on the III, IIIA and IIIM. There are several versions of each. I very much hope that, if Greg Weber isn't going to work on Konicas any more, that someone will get the Konica parts and keep these great cameras running well. I don't know Greg, but I certainly admire all the work he's done over the years with nearly everyone very happy with the results.Update: Greg picked up my call today. Call Zacks Camera Repair.

I would like to think other repairers would be able to take his inventory. Zacks would be a good candidate. All depends on the cost of course.
Greg might want to sell some of his cameras here. (I'd love a Koniflex, myself.)
Sorry to hear he can't continue, though; I wish him better health. The other day I opened up the battery compartment of an FT-1 I have and saw his repair sticker. I have a few other Konicas with that sticker.

Zacks can take my Konica-IIIA for cla. However, he said he is winding down his career and not looking to add more. So if the community knows of some other candidate, I think it would be prudent to help connect the parties because Greg really doesn't know of anyone.

Zacks too? Oh man.
