Hey guys, does anyone know if the KM mount lenses will work on the r-d1? im considering a Hexanon 50mm f/2.. it sounds like heaven really... does anyone have anything to say about it?

Hi,
I think it's a very sharp, well made lens. I use it on a Hexar RF though, no experience with the RD-1.
I don't think you'll be disappointed with the performance of this lens.

sure they work. the hexanon equals the summicron, but has smoother bokeh. i don't like built-in hoods, though. a guy on ebay sells screw-in vented hoods.

so it would work on the r-d1? no close focusing problems? or wide open problems?

none. the only reported problems were with some bodies, not lenses.

I have the Konica 50/2.0 and 90/2.8. I am hoping to go to the zoo today with my R-D1. I'll make sure I take some photos with those lenses and post them tomorrow.

I also have the KM 50/2 and I think it's very good wide open. It's only weakness is a tendency to veiling flare when shooting into the sun, so a lens shade is really a must. The built in shade is useless. I use a Hoya vented 40.5mm hood that I got second hand, very cheap. The quality and colour remind me of the old Nikkor 105/2.5, though this lens is much sharper.
I've never used a summicron, so I can't compare them.

I had the KM 50/2 and used it on the RD-1 last year. Its a very good lens, although I found it was lacking in "sparkle".
I sold it and bought a VC 50/1.5 which is a better lens IMHO

As promissed, sampe photos using Konica 50/2.0 and 90/2.8.
The filename says if I think the photos was with the 50 or the 90 (you'd think I could remember, but I was shooting too fast). The animal theme is there because I was helping show a visitor some Aussie animals.
The files have been reduced in size by using "stretch" in paint. I reduced 50% in each direction. I had to get the file size down somehow.

FYI: The first and third photos were shot straight to jpeg. The 2nd and fourth photo were shot in raw and processed in EPSON PhotoRAW. Phil
