Does anyone know if the Konica M-Hexanon 50/2.4 can be safely collapsed on the R-D1?

Yes you can ... collapse your Hex 2.4/50 on your R-D1. I do it on mine without any problem. You also collapse it on a CV Bessa, if you have one, and besides it is a pretty good lens!

No problem whatsoever - I collapse it on my R-D1s too. Excellent lens by the way.

That's good to hear, thanks!
How excellent? What other 50mm lenses do you use on the R-D1 that you could compare?

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone have the dimensions for the Hexar 50mm f2.4 when collapsed? I'm interested in the lens but it looks a bit bigger than the Leica Elmar-M.

And what's the filter size? It's pretty hard to find specs for this lens, isn't it?

Let me try and answer several questions in one go.
1. Quality - without even resorting to the great Putts who found the Hexanon sharper wide open than the latest Elmar, I would say this:
- in comparison to the Skopar F2.5 which I own, it simply wipes the floor with it, beats it wide open, better bokeh, better color, it's just a vastly better lens.
- in comparison to my ZM SOnnar F1.5, MUCH sharper wide open (no surprise there) though teh Sonnar has other charms.
2. FIlter size: I believe it is 40mm (unles thatw as 41) in any case I had no trouble finding a protective filter for it - it is NOT an exccentric size.
Hope this helps.

Filter size is 40.5mm same as the Hex50 M. Sorry, no data on the specs as I bought mine without any papers. It's certainly heavier than the Hex35UC. My guess 170-180gm's.
