Hi!

does anyone use the KM scanner under Windows Vista and the original KM software?

I use mine with the original software under XP and it works fine. Now I want to change to a new to buy notebook with Vista installed (no XP available). Will there be problems to expect in combination Vista/KM software?

thanks for your help and regards

Do you plan to use the 64 bit or 32 bit version of Vista? For 32 bit the KM driver you have will probably be fine. But for 64 bit Vista I`d think there is no proper driver available.

thanks for your answers!

I intend to buy a new notebook and do not know which kind of Vista there will be used - but I will try to get some information before buying

The KM 5400 MkI and it’s software work on vista, I didn’t know there was two versions of vista and don’t know which I was using, but on OSX leopard I had to switch to vuescan and it looks like that covers both scanners on the latest OS of both mac and PC

I haven't used the Minolta but I have seen reports that some have had difficulty in using the Minolta software under Vista. http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49877&highlight=vista

Mosr seem to suggest that it is linked to the software and not the scanner so it is posible to use the scanner with programs such as Vuescan. My new laptop came with Vista but is now running XP Pro. 😉

Kim, I had to get the latest version off the KM web-site, and even on XP it was always a bit clunky, Vista was the same took a few attempts to install and get working.

It definitely will not work on OSX 10.5 however.
