Just picked one up from a local shop for $5 with a non-working shutter. Was just wondering if anyone out there had any experience with these cameras and maybe had a link to a repair manual or exploded diagram for info on which parts to check to see if I can free up the shutter.

Advancing the film crank does not cock the shutter.

I can find all sorts of information on the Auto S3 and the normal Konica III, but almost no information on the S III.

The camera is in beautiful condition with no signs of scratches or fungus on the lens elements so I'd really like to try and revive it to play with.

The lens is a Konishiroku Hexanon 47mm f/1.9

I guess that S III has variation of Copal shutter, so feel free to look up info on any similar camera. Konica Auto S and Auto S2 are closest, but principles are similar, as far as shutters aren't too different and you don't do very specific adjustments.

Edit: After looking around, S III looks like Auto S model, just with selenium metering instead of CdS cell, and without A mode which were added on Auto S. Model III is completely different beast, employing Seikosha-based shutters and winding is another story. Auto S3 is small-bodied electronic shutter thing, so also not useful as guide.

wiki says: Konica S III (1963) new chassis, similar to Auto S, also uses 47/1.9 Hexanon same as Auto S

Hi Jinxt. I suggest you go to the "Classic Camera Repair Forum" which is a site much more devoted to camera repair than here. A lot of good info on their site.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the info everyone.

It is definitely not the Aires model.

It is, as btgc stated, more like the Auto S but with the selenium meter and lacking any auto modes.

The shutter is a Copal-SVE as labeled on the underside of the lens barrel.

I'm off to track down some repair info for the Auto S as it appears to be the closest sister camera of the bunch.

I'm not particularly fond of Selenium meters, but as I always have the Sekonic with me it doesn't really matter.

So far my collection contains a Yashica Electro 35 GSN, Minolta Hi-Matic 7S, this broken Konica S III and a newly acquired and in shoddy (but seemingly functioning) Argus which I know nothing about at the moment along with some minolta and yashica slr stuff.

I'd like to consolidate everything down to an Oly 35RC and black 35SP.
