Konica S2 - is the Hexanon something special?

So far Konica S2 is my #1 fixed lens RF as far as picture quality goes.
Most fixed lens RF from the same vintage are pretty good, but Konica is better than anything I've tried so far (though I haven't shot enough with Oly 35 SP to form an opinion yet) .
Very sharp and contrasty. Enjoy it!

My Konica S2 is very sharp as well, and the viewfinder is excellent. That said, I use my GTN more, probably because I put money into it, and it has better AE. The konica surprises me though every time I get film back from it. I'll be sure to load a roll into it tomorrow. I am not sure about the "slight cross processing", but your colors do have a certain feel to them, what film and lab are you using?

My Konica S2 arrived today ! as stated, I paid .99 for it and a little extra for shipping. Took a chance and got a bummer :-( . So, anyone in the Boston area that wants it can have it. You just have to swing by and pick it up. Good parts camera. The out side is in Ex +++ condition. So, free if you can pick it up. Thank you, Randy Scott

What is wrong with the S2? Stuck shutter is often easy to repair. Of course, one time I got an Ebay camera that was listed "See no reason why this camera will not work perfectly". It was melted on the inside.

Thank you Brian, The shutter is stuck. The lens has issues as well ( very loose as if it were dropped ? ) A feebie to anyone near me. thank you, Randy

Loose isn't broken - KAS series are known for wobbling lens (need to tighten wavy nut). Though my first KAS2 had landed on lens - rear "cover" of aperture cage were broken  Then I learned "for parts or repair" means "for parts".
Even if shutter works, aperture may be sticking, or slow speeds not working.

If you want fully working KAS2 without getting in, you'll have to wait for clearly described sample (and bid accordingly) or get cheap nice clean stuck one and send for CLA.

S-2's Getting Pricey!

S-2's Getting Pricey!

Reading all this good stuff about my favorite fixed lens RF camera made me curious to see what they're selling for nowadays. I've had several S-2's over the years (including one I got when they were in their prime in the 60's) and never looked upon them as being particularly expensive.

Not so today! There are a couple on the Bay right now for $165-plus and...get this...$385! BIN, of course.

Makes my S-2 I paid $35 for look better all the time!

My S2 is mint condition. Meter works, cleaned the VF/RF, going to put in new light seals. It will be a lot less than $165!

Wide-Open at F1.8.

Stopped down.

Reminds me of the collapsible Summicron 5cm F2. I just do not use it enough, too nice to sit on a shelf.
