I have bought a Konica Auto S1.6, some people tell me that this camera are worst than a S2. This is truth?

Someone have pictures to evidence that?

I find a 625 zinc battery to replace the mercury original batery, exist some problem in use this replacement?

After I clean this lens I see that the first element in this lens have scratches, showed in pictures.

I think that a hood can resolve this problem but I'm not shure what is the correct size, is 55mm the correct?

Hi,
I have both and prefer the 1.6. Looking at your pictures, someone has been overkeen on cleaning the front element. If you see a replacement, it would certainly be worth changing. The zinc air battery will work but may need a collar around it to make sure it is in the right place as the Konica's have a side contact. You might find a Wein cell works fits better. Finally, you are correct, the filter size is 55mm.

Regards
Kim

i have made shots with minoltina s-40/1.8 under sunny conditions. i also used a less speedy RF(ricoh 500 g or so). with that speedy minoltina i had terrible lens-flare/reflexions in dark zones. to be precise a white spot. i could buy that konica auto s1.6. is it ok in this matter? i was told that there is a ricoh with 35mm/1.7?? which is ok. i was using those minolta/ricoh-dual-cams for stereo-work.

I've had a number of Auto S2s and one S1.6. The S2s all had remarkably good lenses (but sensitive to flare, but modern standards). I had no problem using them. The S1.6, however, had a really crappy lens that had to be stopped down to 5.6 or something to yield an acceptable image.

I have the S2 and I like the sharpness of its lens.
It is as good as a vintage Summicron.
