Beautiful set, with the apropriate range of tonalities and great compositions. I especially like the last picture, with the small walking priest below contrasting with the huge dark tower above him. Thanks for posting.

thanks for nice comments. it is beautiful city - i recommend it to everyone who want to see something different. it looks a bit like prague - but i must say i like krakow even more - it is not so polished for tourists - prices are fair - and polish people are really mixed with tourists everywhere. they dont avoid them like in many tourist cities. also if you go there dont avoid to visit other side of river - where is small part of town podgorze. it was austrian city century ago - and later it was joined krakow. it is often not listed in tourist guides but its great to see it because of contrast with krakow style.

Krakow. It was austrian city - that's fact (200+ years ago Poland was divided between Germany, Austria and Russia), but previously it was second capital of Poland (before Warsaw). There's even more austrian city in Poland - Bielsko-Biala. It was called little Vienna.

Great shots. I like the last one (could have been taken before the war) and the 2nd last. The first one looks interesting with the mix of stone steps and "rivetted" bridge support. Just gose to prove, You dont need all that stuff to make good pictures - just a simple M4 and the Summarit!

I google-earthed Podgorze and found a couple of villages all over Poland by that name. But where in relation to Krakow's Market Place, University, or Castle is this gem? Across the river looks like suburbia and industry only ... ??? Which bridge, where?

Wondering as I am traveling there next summer, or so I hope.

it is just across pilsudskiego bridge. i will put some photos of it tommorow. across it is kazimierz. also you can take 304 bus which goes around old town to get to podgorze side. that bus also goes to wielicka salt mine. it is also great place to visit - only 30 min ride with that bus... if you have some more questions just ask - i will be glad to answer...

also i have one question too - while walking around castle me and my wife met a lady with contax g2 with 21mm biogon. we exchanged few sentences about our gear because we were almost only people with film cameras there. later i realized that i forgot to as her if she is member here. i wonder how her photos came out...

A Contax G2 properly used produces stunning results. Very Leica like, but a little more contrast as Zeiss prefers it that way. I have a G2 plus 3 lenses in addition to my M8, M4P and Nikon D300.

Krakow is a wonderful city. I've been there several times and love wandering the streets with a few rolls of black and white.

I'm half Polish but haven't been in Krakow since 1968. I was only 16 then. I didn't have a camera with me unfortunately. Will have to make the effort to visit Poland again. Your photographs are impressive.
