Kudos For Stephen !

Mistitled at the moment, but nice to see again. Fingers crossed that we don't slow down.

Everyone grab your pom poms and cheer for our server!!!

Gallery Recent 1 Day is 8 pages long already.

There are many more photos in there than we'd usually expect to see in a typical weekday. The only change to the site is displaying photos on the main page since about 12 hours ago.

Unfortunately, I'm finding that the site has become quite a bit more sluggish. :( Anybody else notice the same thing?

Sluggish? It's damn near impossible to use! :bang:

Stephen, if this is due to the reintroduced random photo gallery I'd have to recommend turning it off. If the RFF server is unuseable, it doesn't matter how many neat new features RFF has.

It is so slow that I can read an entire New York Times article in the second window while waiting for RFF to load.

load speed is fine on my end. Perhaps there were other hosting issues going on...

or the cut undewater high-speed line in India is having trickle down effects across the whole intertubes? ;)

I Like the Home Page Gallery Pics Too

Unfortunately, they just make the site run too slow at the present time, and have now been removed again.

If all goes according to plan, RFF will have a major software update within the next 30 days. Benefits are expected to include a faster site, as well as a search which finally works again. At that time we will try gallery pics on the home page and see how well it works at that time.

Interestingly I was online and active at RFF when other fellows reported about the "slow down". I didn't feel it, but of course if it is felt by other friends they should be taken into account.

It is possibly that with the new software still it will not be possible to raise the Random Gallery.

But I do appreciate the tryal, which says a lot. And in order not to get too emotional I would humouristically say: It is not about the camera, it is about the quest.

Cheers,
Ruben

I must say I did notice the slowdown in the evening. It's probably a matter of the time of the day.

Maybe if one showed the pictures only to logged-in users that would already cut down significantly on server load.

In my opinion any slow down was caused by people getting their classifieds uploaded on 31 January, to avoid higher fees on 1 February.
