I send in my M9 to Leica New Jersey to have them adjust the rangefinder which was front focusing ! They told me to send it in with a few lenses and they would adjust them to the camera . I send my 50 LUX and 35FLE after 3 weeks I got the camera and lenses back , the replaced the Sensor, circuit board ,adjust the rangefinder and a few other things . They fixed the rattling of the shutterblades on the 35 FLE , lubed the lenses everything works like new and it as sharp as can be.
The camera was out of warranty , the service was free!
Kudos to Leica for taking care of this .

WOW!!!! Thats great...

That is impressive!

I would expect that very few - if any - of Leica's honorable competitors would completely overhaul a camera to that extent at no cost to the owner.

Maybe there is something to the old adage, "You get what you pay for" after all...

I am impressed.
Leica ===> Gut
Competition ===> nicht gut

In a nutshell ===> support Leica and dump the rest.

Great. It might be your name. It might be clever business, and it might even be good training for their staff. Who wouldn't want an M9 and a tranche of lenses to fix if that's your work, and the staff are on wages anyway. I still don't understand the business of adjustment of a camera to a set of lenses, and in your quote, apparently you were only asked for some of them. I must have struck it lucky. My newest 28 2.8 ASPH and my oldest DR Summicron focus perfectly on the M9, as does the Zeiss Sonnar and the 135 Tele Elmar....

The funny thing is I didn't think anything was wrong with the sensor or circuit board , I knew it started front focusing after I bought the 50 lux. I also had the rattling shutter blades on the 35 FLE which I pointed out to Leica and they fix that ,they also lubed both lenses. I bought the M9 new when it first came out so the warranty was expired . The service they did was in the time frame they told me .It gives me confidence to buy a new digital Leica camera the future!

The opposite of my experience with Nikon. The good folks at US HQ didn't even know what the S3 2000 was.....yikes
