Well, the joke isn't really on them. The joke is them. Disney is Evyl. But in cute form. Well, mostly: have you seen The Apple Dumpling Gang? Or The Black Hole? Or Double Trouble? eesh.
 
Areas of North Texas have banned smoking within 25 feet of mall entrances and others have moved smokers off site altogether. What's a minority to do?

This law will in no way stop paparazzi, since they'll simply employ the long-lensed dSLR of the pro sports photographer. It will only stop those who have less financial incentive to spend big $$ on camera gear. It actually works in favor of the paparazzi being employed by the larger media outlets, since their expense accounts can afford the more expensive lenses over that of the lesser-financed competitors. The law of unintended consequences strikes again!

This also works out to be a convenient conspiracy theory to ponder: perhaps the law was sponsored by big media to eliminate some competition. I suppose video equipped micro-blimps may become more popular. Time for a new law!

Yeah, I live in Delaware and have two Dunkin Donuts within a few miles. I didn't see any last week in Orange County, CA.

No Krispy Kreme domut shops out there either....

KK is pretty much a thing of the past. They shot themselves in the foot with their cruddy (illegal?) wholesale business practices and rapid growth plans... and closed almost all of their shops around here.

We ahve plenty of donut shops, though. Interestingly it is one of the businesses in which Asian immigrants flocked to. Even if donuts are not in their cultural heritage they sure know how to make good ones. If you were in the OC then you know all about that!

Not so sure. Some of the best doughnuts I've ever had, defined as deep-fried risen dough cakes, have been Tibetan, among refugee communities in India. And jelibi (sp?) deep-fried crispy dough pretzels (for want of a better word) are one of my favourite treats in north India, and puri (savoury fried puffs) in the south.

Yes, dear Roger, fried dough exists in the culinary traditions of most countries. And I agree that the Indian versions are quite yummy, although I actually much prefer idli. I was specifically referring to Vietnamese shop owners, and American-style doughnuts... or donuts. :)

EDIT: But we wander in our discussion. So I ask... what style of doughnut is preferred by photographers who use rangefinder cameras; and SLRs; and MF cameras; and large-format cameras. Is there a difference in donut preference between those who shoot B&W an dcolor film?

I must have missed the donut shops, but there is an excellent Korean BBQ place across from where my sister lives in OC...

I'll check around for the donut shops next time I get to sunny OC. Maybe it won't be so smoky in Brea next time...
