L1 begats G1

My Panasonic L1 has been complemented by little sister G1 .

I love the cross grid , waist level ' finder ' and my tiny CV 35mm f 2.5 Color Scopar will soon be adapted as my prime lens ... impossible with standard 4/3rds.

However , I have given the L1 ' brick ' a new lease of life with an Olympus 14 / 42 zoom as the f2.8 Leica zoom is superb , but so clumsy .

This will make it on par with a Nikon D90 in terms of weight , if not image quality , but I love using it , especially now I have dee'scovered that it has live view !
I tried it on the Leica Dig 3 , but it stays on 10x magnification , so never persisted with the L1 spare body .

Is it not odd that the micro 4/3rds has boosted sales of old manual lenses ,
whereas 4/3rds raised just a whisper !
I guess they will go up in price now !

I love my L11 and would not like to part with it, even though I have recently bought an M8 as well. it should be useful for those occasions when my poor eyes cannot cope with focussing the Leica glass manually and I need a bit of electronic assistance. I must admit though that I would like to supplement the stock zoom (which is a superb performer) with a Leica / Panasonic 25mm f1.4 Summilux. That lens is one that has held its value well for the past few years that it has been on the market though and is still fairly pricey. But it would make a wonderfull addition to any 4/3 body. The one thing I miss with the zoom is that it does not have strong outt of focus areas like the Summilux shot wide open.

I have an L1 and it is my main street camera. I shoot it primarily with an Olympus 25mm pancake lens, and of course, the Panaleica 14-50 zoom, which is a superb lens. I love the camera. One day I hope to add the Leica 25 1.4.

Thank goodness others have been seduced by this camera - the L1 was a £250 second body to the Dig 3 - so chrome and black . It really was a cheap buy - add an Olympus 14 / 42 zoom at £70 and I have a marvelous £320 quality camera !
