I recently purchase an Enna- Munchen 135/4 from the usual auction site.
I mounted it onto my M2 using a third party 35-135 adapted and the lens is not focusing properly nor is it facing the correct way up when mounted.
All of the focusing and aperture info is underneath the lens when fully tightened.
Has anyone got any tips? Or experienced similar issues?
Cheers,
Tom

Are you sure it's Leica mount? There has been at least one other 39mm x 26 tpi fitting, with different register.

Yep, I'm betting it's a Paxette lens: same threads, different register.

Thanks for reminding me that it was Paxette; I knew there was one but what it was had slipped my mind. The other L39 is of course the original Zenit, with a MUCH bigger register.Yep, I'm betting it's a Paxette lens: same threads, different register.

Ah ok, so will it not be the correct lens to film distance? Will I be able to zone focus?
Thanks for the pointers!

No, unless you can figure out some way to mark the correct focusing distances on the lens barrel.Ah ok, so will it not be the correct lens to film distance? Will I be able to zone focus?

Paxette is not L39. It is a real M39 lens. That is, the Paxette thread is 1.0mm, not 26 tpi. Some lenses kind of fit, but the registration is substantially different. Zenit is L39, but the registration is about 45mm instead of 28.8mm of Leica's L39.

Paxette lenses always screw on to a leica mount 'upside down' thats the sure fire way of knowing it is one. You can get a small extension tube or a ridiculously large and expensive adaptor from the states. I use one and scale focus. Its nice using a (West German) Carl Zeiss Tessar on my Leica.
