Hi everyone,
I was just wondering about how do you use your Labbox filled with 490ml of chemicals.
Do you follow the tank instructions (lot of agitation every 30 seconds) or did you find your own way to use it?
How do you vary according to the developer? For example DD-X suggests 4 inversions of 10 seconda every minute, how would you do that with a fully filled Lab box?
Thanks

Agitate following the Lab Box instructions. Adjust times for density/contrast. I found that if you change the system much beyond part full of developer and continuous agitation or full but intermittent agitation there is a great amount more likelihood of uneven development.

I don't know, I have tried several ways having more or less good results. But since I still didn't find "the" right way, I was asking in order to understand how people use it.

Just rotate the knob on the side for that duration. I try to spin the knob as vigorously as possible. You may need to adjust duration and periodicity based on results you see.

Thank you.
So for example every minute you spin vigorously the knob for 10 seconds?

I think maryland_fotos is suggesting continuous agitation - turning the handle for the whole development time. That’s what I do unless I need decreased contrast. In that case I use 500mL of Xtol 1+3 and agitate intermittently.

For intermittant agitation I try to use the recommended 1 3/4 turns every second.
I prefer continuous agitiation because its much less vigorous.

All of the films I've done so far have been with partial filling and continuous agitation. I do continuous agitation by turning in quarter turns ... two quarters forward, one back, two forward, one back ... All my films have come out with very even development.

Ok, thank you so much to everyone.
At this point I wonder what are the differences between constant and intermittent agitation (and so 300 and 490ml, respectively) in terms of grain, resolution, acutance, etc.
in few words, excluding the money saving answer, why do you choose for a constant agitation?
