I've had a Vivitar VI enlarger with a colorhead (Dioptic Light Source) for at least 25 years and in this time I've changed the quartz lamp maybe twice that I can remember...
This past Summer I picked up a Beseler 23C with the Dichro 23dga colorhead...I replaced the bulb before ever putting it to use, then while printing last night the quartz lamp just blew...It may have had, at the most 1 hour on it. I had a back-up lamp so I just replaced it and went back to work...no big deal.
The only thing that bothered me was the short life of the first bulb...granted I got these bulbs off ebay...NOS...but still new bulbs...
Was this a fluke or should I stock up on bulbs...Is the 23c hard on lamps???
Any input would be welcome...what's been your experience???

For now I gotta get another back up bulb or two...:bang:
