Trius
Waiting on Maitani
I am drained. I posted a brief (and inadequate) entry on my blog, an account of attending a presentation by Larry Towell, which is part of a lecture series at George Eastman House.
Just to add a bit... Towell shoots b&w, specifically Tri-X. He implied he shoots b&w exclusively, though I suspect he may play with colour as well. He gave high praise to George Eastman for making photography accessible, and to Kodak for Tri-X; "I could shoot without a Leica camera, but I couldn't shoot without Tri-X!"
He also said he that he handled the M8 at the Magnum Annual General Meeting, and that it looks like ... a Leica. He had written a song about Leica, and offered rights to the song in exchange for an M8, but laughed that then he realized they didn't have any money. (I can't imagine him really wanting a digital Leica anyway.)
If anyone ever gets a chance to see/hear Towell in person, it is worth the effort. I'll be purchasing some of his work.
