Dear Tony, aoresteen said:I think they could have done it. The rewind is on the viewfinder side and the MD coupler would be on the advance lever side. Awakward yes but possible.
It must not have been a design requirement.
I always wanted a Nikon SP type body with a flip open back and the MD4 motordrive. The MD4 motor can rewind the film.
For the SP body to take the punishment of the MD4 it would have to have been beefed up a lot. Ditto for the ZI.
At which point it's neither the existing ZI camera nor a Voigtländer trigger wind....
I completely agree about the desirability of such a camera, and about the fact they can't have considered a trigger important; but then, Zeiss and Kobayashi-san did not always agree 100% on every detail.
Cheers,
R.

Please, I could not disagree more. These cars are plastic redo's of great classics. The present Zeiss Ikon is a Classic on its own.ernesto said:Hello, all Zeiss Fans,
From the design viewpoint, I would say the new Zeiss camera is a retro design, and it can fit in the same cathegory as the New Beetle, the New Mini Cooper, the New Fiat 500, Chrysler PT Cruiser etc etc.

i dont think also that it is a retro design. everything that it has a bit similar to contax is look of its front plate with silver part in the middle - but they probably did it as homage to their old camera. if they wanted to make a retro camera they would put self timer in place of old self timer. i think that zm incorporated both zeiss and leica design in one camera. probably it is the best camera in market today. i wouldnt mind to have camera like this - in fact i would be very very very happy with it.
