It was a special LTM version of the last pre-ASPH version of the Summilux. IIRC, they were made in 1999 (along w/LTM versions of the 35/2 ASPH Summicron & the 50/2 Summicron) on special order for a Japanese camera store (Lemon?). When it turned out that they had vastly overestimated demand in Japan, they were released to the rest of the world.

Unfortunately, 1 downside of this version (I have 1) is that it doesn't focus as close as the regular M-mount version (0.9 v. 0.7m). Most LTM bodies don't focus below 0.9-1m, but there was no real technical reason why Leica couldn't have retained the same minimum focus (for use on M-mount bodies, for example).

Yes, that price was good.

I was trying to research this lens as the auction wound down.
Did not have enough infor to know if this was a deal or not.

The seller describes this as a latest model lens. Is this ASPH
It is an e46 LTM lens. I could find little info.
Can anyone tell me a bit?

Was this a deal missed or no ??
Thanks

The price was good for a rather special edition item, however, it is pushing it a bit if just looking for a pre-asph summilux. You have to include the price of a adapter ring, which will cost $40.

That is a very good price for the lens but it does have the limitation of the 0.9M closest focus. Most people buy this last pre-ASPH version for the 0.7M closest focus. 0.2M doesn't sound like much but it can make the difference in some cases.
