I have a FED-2 that has a serial number starting with 67, so I guess a very late model, from 1967? I also have a Jupiter-12, a black one from 1990.
When I try and mount the Jupiter on the FED, the rear element just comes in contact with a lever/part/thing of some kind inside the. This prevents mounting the Jupiter all the way in, unless I want to scrape the paint off from the rear element. The lens clears the rangefinder cam just fine, so it's not that.
Any idea what this lever/thing is for? Looking at pictures of other FED-2s online, I see similar parts, but these do not portrude the way it does on mine. Anything I can do about this?
