Took delivery of a X100 today. I am mainly a film guy but I need the convenience, fast workflow and low light capabilities of digital for some projects I have planned this year.
I held off for a year and let the prices fall to a more bearable point. No need for a "review", it's been done to death but I can see what all the fuss was about. It's a lovely piece of kit. A pretty well thought out photographer's tool, for sure - I have never played around with exp. compensation so much.
So, some first images from me after a 1.30 firmware upgrade, reading the manual for hours and even more hours fitting the damn strap

Nice photos and congrats... it's a fun -- and quite capable -- little camera!

The more you use it, the more you'll like. Great camera, great pictures.
As far as the strap is concerned there have been a number of posts regarding the damage that the triangle split ring has done to the X100 lugs.
This is a thread I started on another forum about this problem

Thanks, mine came with some protective patches against the body. Did you install these? Do the triangles wear the lugs?

Yes there have been a number of reports that the lugs wear is is quite bad. Mine has the beginnings of wear so I went for the OpTech's Mini QD Loops to avoid further wear.

Thanks for the heads-up, I didn't like fitting them. Too tight and too hard against the softer alloy I guess.

I dumped that strap fast...went with an A&A black cloth strap, couldn't be happier. I'd recommend it highly.

On another note, enjoy the X100. I love it, and it has become my all-time favorite digital camera, hands down. It cured me of the desire to have an XP1 and even an M9.

Fascinating about the strap lugs. Fascinating too how many on that other forum referenced just don't get it: the strap lugs - the strap lugs themselves, not the body. Mine is new again so I'll swap out the rings. Should make a difference. Lovely photos River Dog. Loved your Ektar in another thread and this looks quite similar.

I cut a lot of tone out of that one to accentuate the wheel. I was surprised with the original shadow detail. The exposure comp. seems critical to the X100 but I need to figure out the AE lock.
One outing tells me this is my best digital to date, but it's always a balance. My S95 for portability (that the wife keeps borrowing) and the Sony NEX-3 for legacy lenses.
And there is something quite strange about shooting a RF-like camera but not processing film when I get home
