While in Paris a couple of weeks ago, I got Marc Riboud's latest book "Choses Vues" Imprimerie National. I have always liked Riboud's work - he is "gentle" photographer.
This is a collection of a lot of his work, some old stand-by's (man painting the Eiffel tower, The girl with flower facing the soldier and his gun) but also a lot of to me unknown pictures. Lay-out is not my favorite though - a lot of full bleed shots and some across the gutter. Still worthwhile though.

Made a trip up to Moose Lake, Minnesota where my daughter lives and stopped in at Craig Blacklock's gallery. Picked up his "Pictured Rocks" and "Horizons" books. Met Craig's wife Honey, the subject of "A Voice Within: The Lake Superior Nudes". If you are familiar with the beauty of Lake Superior and the North Shore, check out Craig's work at blacklockgallery.com.

I do buy photo books, but only when I can find them used and on sale! I prefer to read novels where the pictures come from the inside of my head. I just finished Haddon's A Spot of Bother and started Buckley's Boomsday.

There was quite a book harvest here over last week or two:
some technical stuff - another volume of st.Ansel's trilogy as well as Tim Rudman's Master printing book.
To just look at:
Nick Brandt - On this earth - superb images, very well done
Ragnar Axelsson - Last days of the arctic - a massive volume, all perfect - both the "introductory" colour "landscape-ish" images as well as the whole lot of bw documentary in true RAX style..
ANd the good news? Still a couple of books in the post!
