Saw this book in Tokyo at the Leica Gallert a couple of weeks ago (as well as prints of some of Kubota's work). It is massive 5-6 lbs - so I decided to forego it. Hand luggage only - far too heavy - and almost $90 UD. came nome and found it on Amazon.com for less and half - and did not have to carry it either.
Well worth the money (even the $90) - amazing time document and political time description. Just did a quick run through it - will sit down with it for a more thorough look and read.

I've had this in my "Books" wishlist for a while now on Amazon, glad to see someone else got it and likes it. I might order this one next.

I just got back from Tokyo and brought back about 9 books. Only one I would consider pricey at $110, and while the photos are great and exactly what I wanted (80's Japan), most photos are printed across the spine. Anwhyo, as with just about anything, some books in the shops are priced pretty horribly. I hope you stopped by Soukyusha in Shinjuku. :)

Back to this one. I believe this one is pricier in Japan as it's a western publication. Congrats on the find! Might add this to my Xmas list.

Actually I found it on Amazon... then went to "New and Used" under the Prime price of $59.99, and they had it on Prime for $23.05 -- a steal.

Nothing photographic, but today is my birthday and a l received some new additions, SAS a history of the early years, Flame Bearer by Bernard Cornwell and the 2017 Good Beer guide:D

Recently received:

Tod Papageorge - Opera Citta
Lee Friedlander - Street: The Human Clay
Neal Snidow - Vista del Mar
Robert Doisneau - the big Taschen retropective edited by Jean Claude Gautrand
Rinko Kawauchi - Illuminance, the Aperture monograph
Stewart Franklin - the Documentary Impulse

I once read somewhere that when one buys a book, one buys not just the book, but also the idea of having the time to read it :)

I found a very nice book with some great early Nikon photography (rangefinder or F?; I think both) on TriX by Ted Russell: Bob Dylan NYC 1961-1964. Rizzoli 2014. Recommended!

Erik.

Recently bought a number of books: Salgado's Workers, two by the Michaud couple: Enchanted Lands and the other was Afghanistan. Just went to the Diane Arbus exhibit in NYC yesterday, so I'm shifting to some of the American photographers next I think.

A side note, Peter David Grant here on the forum has an interesting book out. I'm probably going to get a copy or two of those.
