Today's haul from Half Price Books, right around $50 total. HPB is a surprisingly decent source of quality photography books. (And I'm still chuffed about the time I bought a Nick Cave CD from there and when I got it home, found that Nick had autographed the booklet back in the 90s.)
I was listening to a collection of William Gibson essays. In one of them, he focused on a photo book by Greg Girard named "Phantom Shanghai" ... it sounded fascinating! So I looked it up and found that, in at least one edition, Gibson had contributed an introduction to the work as well.
The book is a collectible now, long out of print, with prices in the $300-$400 range. I hunted around and found a used copy of the paperback edition for just under $100 and ordered it; should be arriving this week. 🙂
