My roommate does have a cam phone, and hers sounds somewhat like my Pentax K1000 when it goes off. I forget what make/model the phone is, but it has a synthesized focal plane shutter sound.

I set up SWMBO’s point and shoot to sound like a squeaky motorised Canon , well got one of the kids to do it actually

If you read the whole article it states that this will not be required on P&S cameras JUST phones with cameras...doesn't make sense...do them all or none at all...
This really doesn't apply to me since I've only really taken two pictures with my phone...oh yeah AND I'M NOT A PERV...

It might be more worthwhile to improve the educational system, and hence national culture, to the point at which fewer individuals are weird enough to try making sneak photos instead of having friends. But that's difficult and there are no votes in that sort of thing I suppose.
