These are my latest non-commissioned portraits that I did while in Mexico last week... All were shot from the hip with the M8 and the 50 Sumilux...

Just tooked at your Cabo pics.. awesome processing on those shots! Were those shot with the M8 as well! My favorite is the one them holding hands while splashing thru the ocean waves.. WOW!

Interesting, I've learned something else from your site. I had never heard of "anti-bridal." So...it's someone who IS getting married? Seems sort of similar to "trash the dress" in that it's meant to be, like, a turning upside down of the traditional dress shots. But maybe "anti-bridal" doesn't involve the guy? At first, I thought it was sort of a photographic declaration of someone against marriage. And it leads me to wonder if people also do anything like this after a break up. Oh...and really stunning pictures, too, of course 🙂
 
Ywenz - Thanks for your comments. Yes, I am shooting weddings 100% with M8s since early April.

Steve - You are correct, the Anti-Bridal term was coined (AFIK) by my friend and talented photographer John Michael Cooper and it is another name for what is now a "Trash the Dress" session...
Jennifer (from the Anti-Bridal session in my blog) is one of my clients that got married in May and we did do some stuff with the groom, but this session was more about her (that's why I did not put any of his images in the blog). Whenever I am commissioned by a client (whether for an engagement session, a wedding, portraits or bridal stuff) I don't care to pay to attention to whatever rules or "must do" images are required, so an Anti-Bridal may have a groom or not... What is important for me is to have fun with my clients while creating great images that they will appreciate for years to come.

I love Jessica's style and post processing but I favor the less saturated look for my own work (although there are certain situations where the vibrant colors work better, in my humble opinion, it all depends on the mood you are trying to convey).
Please be aware that a certain post processing style (subdued like mine or vibrant like Jessica's) can always be achieved within PhotoShop.

What I meant to ask but didn't really come out in my post was I wanted to know how the M8 renders pictures of Jessica's style...
 
those images are wonderful. but i wonder which aperture did you use? it looks soft so it might be 1.4 but not enough bokeh so I guess that it is f2 or f2.8? it might be problematic when the sharpness reveal everything of the skin. Maybe not when it remind us of our mortality
 
Very nice work Riccis. Speaking for myself as an engaged man, I find your work inspiring- for lack of a better word right now.

Ywenz - Sorry about my misunderstanding... Are you referring to the depth of field, can you be more specific?

Tomasis - Thanks for your comments. If I recall correctly all these were shot from the hip at f/2... While the second image is not perfectly sharp in the eyes (due to my mistake) the other ones are better... I decided to keep it anyway since I like the connection between the camera and subject in that case. I am a big fan of exploring people just the way they are and like you state, serves as a reminders of our mortality.

I'm curious whether the M8 can produce the wonderfully saturated and high contrast images in the style of Jessica Claire.. I wanted to know if you have shot *some* images closer to that type with the M8..
 
I know Jessica and she shoots with the 5D and has some custom settings on her camera to get a somewhat cross-processed look, but she also does additional post processing to her images... I believe the answer to your question is no (although I may be wrong) since as I remember the 5D has a few more parameters that you can set to get a certain look than the M8...
Please keep in mind that this only comes to play if you are a JPEG shooter, but since I am a RAW shooter and get my look in post processing, don't look into this... Also, regardless of the camera you use, you can achieve the contrasty look of Jessica's images without any problems, asumming that you start with a decently exposed image.

I modified one of my recent images shot RAW with the M8 and hopefully this helps illustrate that the final look of your image is more tied to your post-processing style than the camera used for image capture.

I am sure that if I provided Jessica with this RAW file from the M8 she'll make it look just like the rest of her work.

Possibly, Jessica Claire can produce the wonderfully saturated and high contrast images in her style with the M8.

These are really beautiful photos.

I'm astonished how you have managed to process these images to look remarkably like film. Any tips? Is this dome purely in Photoshop? The grain is like HP5. HOW DO YOU DO THIS? Please help.
