the last I heard, CV discontinued production on the current 28/1.9 Ultron, and rumors immediately started flying that an M-mount version was being designed
any further development on this? I'm looking for a fairly fast 28mm, and while I wouldn't have a problem with the LTM version, I'd prefer a new M-mount (assuming price is competitive)

What puzzles me Brett is that they normally announce the replacement before discontinuing the old lens, this time they haven't!
I already have the lens and can truely recommend it, it is quite superb.

Not necessarily the CV way. They discontinued the LTM 25 without announcing a replacement.
With the list of lenses they have recently discontinued, they are either in an upgrade mode, or going out of business.
I don't think they are going out of business.

they *must* be coming up with a replacement - it's a fantastic lens (i love mine in combination with the nokton 40 1.4), and so affordable.
its size is the only drawback, and i will be in a bit of a dilemma if they somehow make an M mount one that's as bright (f2 is fine too) but smaller.

That's surprising. They must be selling that lens by the boat load to M8 owners, who can't afford the 2/28 Summicron-ASPH or can't get their hands on the new 2.8/28 ASPH.
But then again it would make a lot of sense to release an M-mount version of it...

I don't care how big it is. I don't own it, but my friend, desertshooter, does, and I borrow it from time to time. I want one.

Here's some fuel for any conspiracy theory fans out there-
Maybe Brand L has offered a large figure to stop producing reasonably priced, excellent quality competition.
Oooh, creepy!
