Since I live in Sweden and am quite close to these countries, and have a lot of time on my hands right now, I was thinking of making a small trip to one of these countries!

I was wondering if anyone here lives there and could tell me if there are any cool shops/markets for used camera gear in any of these countries? :p

It would be fun to update ones FSU arsenal and maybe get some nice J-optics too.

Any tips?

Thanks,
Mattia

I'm in Latvia and recently one of second hand shope just closed - everyone nowadays shoot evildslr :) I'll check another store I saw when looking for lens cap, don't remeber what they had from FSU range.
If you have something special in mind, I can look for, but don't expect wide selection from cheap offers. When I had to find Agat18 for exchange, in the end I got it from Russia - lot faster and cheaper than locally. Now many think "It goes for nice coin on eBay, so I'll try too because I paid grand for my dslr set". It depends on what you are loooking for.

Will get back in couple of days, that shop is aside from my usual route.

I'm in Estonia. There is one market where you can find old cameras, 95% of which are russian. There are several stores on that market, which sell photo gear. Not all the cameras are operational, some are very dirty and gummed up. Most of the prices are what Estonians call "tourist prices". About the same as ebay. More than they are worth. But you can usually negotiate over the prices. Russian language skills would be very useful.

A local store, Photopoint, also has a used camera "section". You can find a list here: http://secondhand.photopoint.ee/

I dont know how complete the list is though.

Quick review show me similar situation in Riga, Latvia too. Used gear shop has mostly FED-2-3 (20-25 us$ equiv.), Zenits and expensive toy cameras. Today visited flea market - same FEDs, awfully dirty lenses, two badly looking Kiev 4 with chewed leatherette and stuck focus on lens (you know, they were best Soviet made cameras - they try to justify silly prices for beaten stuff). I just laughed at them when they offered me to research prices on Internet - at least there I can get nice camera (ok, needing some work) not junk sold for price of camera. Yeah, this is what tourists have done - flea market seller asks at least us$100 for lomo LC-A out of closet looking accordingly. Ha ha ha !
I have been told that tourists from Germany are readily paying asked money for dirty junk so sellers are so brave. I definitely will look for Kiev 4 but somewhere else :)
