Get the Cosina CX-2 instead, the camera the LC-A was based on. The build quality is much better (made in Japan) and not as many people are clued in on it yet, so it is cheaper, though prices are rising.

A CX-2 may be cheaper (if you can find one) but it has a different lens. The results can be similar to what you'd get with an LC-A, but not quite as Lomo-esque.
For comparison, you could check out two sets by Lomokev (a Flickr star of sorts): Lomo LC-A and Cosina CX-2.
As for where to find one for cheap, I bought one on Ebay years ago before the prices went crazy and another off Lomo.us (which is pretty much a graveyard now). Perhaps prowl some other Lomo or toy camera forums.

A lot of Lomo folks shoot slide film and cross process. Just doing that gets you a long way to the Lomo (saturated colors, extreme contrast, vignetting) look. I actually like the cameras (I've owned one) but really can't justify the price, particularly now. An olympus XA2, sort of the lowest, commonest form of the XA, will get you pretty much the same results as a Lomo for a lot cheaper. When I'm going for the look now, I shoot slide film in my Yashica t4. Sharper lens, waterproof and similarly point and shoot but no zone focusing.

Can you elaborate on why you want one?

Personally, I don't really like cross-processing, but Nightfly is right. If that's the look you're going for, an LC-A isn't necessary.

Because it looks like a fun little camera. Ive always liked the way it looks. I also love vignetting. It just always drew my attention and gave photos a nice cheep feel to them.
I also like it because it uses 135. I know I can just put some 35mm in my Holga 120N but the holga wasnt made for it. Im thinking about just getting a Holga 135 BC insted just because its cheeper and its a Holga.
I like the idea of Lomography and Lomographers. Great for parties and stuff. But at the same time, the Lomographic Society disgusts me. Capitalism at its finesest, profiting off a piece of soviet equipment.

Thank you for answering my question.
FWIW, I think if you want to get cool pictures for parties, as nightfly has pointed out above, nothing can beat the XA series from Olympus. You *will* get vignetting, but you'll get surprisingly good quality pictures because the lens on those cameras are top notch.
Plus, you can get any of the 4 XA series for below $25 nowadays, cheaper than the lc-a.

Just FYI, you can't get an original XA (the one with the rangefinder) or an XA4 (the one with the 28mm lens) for $25. If you can, buy it. XA's go for around $80-100 and XA4's go for over a $100. I sold both those models for those prices recently.
XA2's are still cheap and zone focusing. The Lomo is a bit cooler construction wise and I would buy one for $100 but not much more. You can also look for an Olympus Stylus new for about $80-100.
The lomographic spirit is pretty cool and their "rules" are easy to adopt with any camera. I employ them with my Leica often. Hell you can stick a Lensbaby on your SLR and vignette away.

If you like the styling of the LC-A so much you might like the Minolta AF-C.

oh, i also just searched a XA on the camera section on fleabay and I came up with 28 results, which i think is quite nice. There was even a red one! But ive never been a fan of red so if you guys want it, go get it!

My LCA
My LCA
cost me £70 from ebay, and after failing dismally to get the hang of it first time round I produced first roll was both blurry and overexposed, which made me feel that it was hugely overpriced. I persevered and now I love it for its reliable, tough, take anywhere, built like a tank, point and shoot-ness. The vignetting is lovely and the autoexposure is very forgiving. I've just had a huge clearout of all my cameras and sold a lot of things on ebay to fund the purchase of a Bessa R2a, but I couldn't bring myself to sell the LCA!

I totally agree with lazarzas words! I bought my LC-A on a fleamarket in 2000 for 40 DM. Put a film in and before I had left the market some hours later I was totally in love with the camera.
A camera is more than gear. For me it is a mirror of my feelings, which camera I pick up in the morning - and sometimes its the LC-A. I have few cameras, that I use "careless" in every situation, namely the Nikon F-801s, the mju-II and the LC-A.
