I got really excited when I read about this camera - making bones about its '6x6 sensor size'.

Turns out though that the sensor is only 56x36mm - but it can ROTATE through the 6x6 area :bang:

When will they launch a true 6x6 digital back?

My 503CW is crying out for one (second hand of course 🙄)

I dont think we will be waiting too long for this to happen. I have used a hasselblad 501 with a teathered phase one back and a mask for 645, and that was a pain. Though I dont think that 6x6 will really be the answer so many people think it will be as its not a popular format in the pro market and that is basically what these cameras and backs are for. Since most working pros shooting mamiya RZ 6x7 format or 645 digital back, its hard to imagine what the coverage will be for the pros using a 6x6. As a friend of mine, a working pro once told me, 6x6 is good for CD covers and thats about it. Ok fine, his opinion, I like 6x6 for some stuff, but really would rather see a 6x7, which im sure is many many years away.

i doubt there will be any 6x6 backs in the near future simply because there aren't actually any new and current cameras that are 6x6. Hassy still makes the 503 but has focused its energy on the H-series as it is promoting it as the future. The new phaseone cam/mamiya is also 645 as i recall... its just too much into r/d to cater to a niche market using old cameras. Most pros are quite happy just switching to the newer systems for the reasons avotius mentioned above.
