Just returned from supervising a TV commercial shoot in Hollywood, CA. Took my RD-1 and Leica 28/2 & 50/1.4 with me, as well as my lap-top. Turns out that the film director shoots with a Leica M7 and so did some of the film crew members. The Director (Paul Dektor), had a Noctilux and we tried it on the RD-1. Result? He immediately ordered an RD-1, and I immediately ordered a Noctilux ; -) Mind you, these are not fondlers and polishers, these are renown image makers.

I had Saturday off, so we went to the Chinese New Year Parade in LA. Oh my God, the colors !!!! IMO, M glass is worth every inflated cent they cost. The camera performed flawlessly. I only had the 28 with me then but it was good for 90% of the shots.

Leapin' Lizards? Another Little Annie Fanny fan here?

And can we see some more of your shots? I'm still undecided if I should take the plunge. Especialy as I don't have compatible lenses :-(

Wow! Excuse me for asking, but any PS adjustments in this shot? The color is truly exceptional. (Mind racing ahead. No. Extrapolated end to current course of thought ends in my demise. Wife receives verdict of 'justifiable homicide.') Please don't tell me you did nothing to this photo. Please.

I always shoot RAW files, so Yes there is PS work involved. However you couldn't get those reds that saturated without effecting the skin tone ... which I didn't do. Just balanced out the colors normally.

Here's a difficult one that was back lit from the setting sun.

Could you post some shots with the RD 1/Noct. Low light, Wide open at ISO 1600?

Big file, if possible, I want to study it in PS.

Thanks,

Patrick

Another one falls in love with the R-D1... I'm glad you're enjoying it. I'll say once again that it is my favorite digital camera ever - warts and all.

Cheers,

Sean
