Leather wrist strap

The regular works for me....I tried the 8 3/4" one once, but didn't like the slack I had between me and the camera, but with a pretty small build I think I was daydreaming when I made the decision to buy it.
 
Leitz used to make a wrist strap years ago. It screwed into the tripod socket and the center piece, where the split ring atatched, swiveled. The strap was thin black leather like their neck straps of that vintage. The metal parts had typical Leica quality machining and knurling.
 
I have both Gordy and Luigi straps. Both function quite well with Luigi's getting the nod on my M8 and the Gordy strap is on my Canon G9.

If you are on the fence with a handstrap, Gordy's isn't too much of an investment to try for a while.
 
Does anyone use the Gordy wrist pad with their straps or do you find the wrist strap comfortable enough to use without it?
 
carlb - weight wise, I am not sure which camera you plan on using it with but I didn't get a pad on my wrist strap but have one on a Gordy neck strap. The pad adds width more than cushioning and felt it wasn't necessary on a hand strap since I usually return the camera to a bag after a short while. Otherwise, I'd be inclined to use a neck strap.
 
I don't use the wrist pad, either. I haven't found any real need for it, with either a Leica M or a Nikon FM hanging from the strap. Besides, I think the pad would get in the way: I hang the camera by the strap from a bandolier strap, attached with a carabiner. I think the pad would interfere with rapid attach/detach from the bandolier.
 
Another vote for the Gordys strap too. Ive got the longer one and i must say i'm happy with it . If i hold it right it also makes a good grip on my R2A as well.
 
I've just received my Gordy straps and they are excellent - the workmanship and materials are first class.

And Gordy is a wonderful person to deal with - he knows what customer service is about. The world needs more retailers like him.


PS I have no connection with Gordy other than being a very, very satisfied customer.
 
I have a question about the Gordy loop straps - since the loop is so strong, why do most folks opt for the ring version, which then probably needs some a leather pad or something to prevent the ring from scratching the body?

I don't think the ring can touch the body on my R2, the leather keeps it at a distance. For my XA I did put a loop strap on it, but I think it was because the XA seems more like a P&S, which commonly have loop straps....😀 Odd reasoning I guess.
 
After nearly dropping my IIIf, I figured I needed a strap, and this thread convinced me to order from Gordy. It's very nice for the $, kind of a minimslist approach that I like. Looks like it belongs on a Barnack.

I have largish hands, and the standard length is ok, but next time I will order the longer one.
