Legacy Pro 400, Gone?!

Saw the same thing as I was about to order from Freestyle last night. I emailed back and forth with Marv just a few minutes ago:

me: Will there be more LegacyPro B&W negative film in ISO 400?

Marv:Only in ISO 100

me: Will there _ever_ be any more ISO 400 or is this temporary?

Marv: Don't know. Right now it looks permanent.

So how did they go from thousands of rolls down to nothing in a month?

and some even say film is dead!

I think Fujifilm just flooded it's close-to-expiration stock through LP brand. Probably when they realize how willingly people buy Neopan for right price, they will adjust price on it. I just hope they don't make it more expensive :D

Nope not really.

I was worried a few weeks back when I noticed that all the LegacyPro films at Freestyle were suddenly "short-date special". I was going to stock up this week - sigh...

Just an FYI NEOPAN 400 35mmx 36 is selling for $2.69 a roll at B&H, not as cheap as the LegacyPro400 prices from Freestyle but still not a bad price JMO.

OK I called them up just now.

Answers I've got over the phone:

• Manufacture is not sending us anymore.
• Discontinued (as "Legacy Pro 400")
• No more shipments (I asked at least 3 times)
• They are completely out of stock (I asked at least 3 times :( )
• She is not aware of any "cheaper version of Neopan 400" to be available

I am very very sad. It's friday, but I'm sad... :(

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Ugh, I only have maybe five rolls left of LP 400... I'm afraid I too am heartbroken, despite it being Friday.

Gid,

Thank you very very much for the heads up.

I just secured 80 rolls from digitaltruth.

I still can't use smily icon. Still sad Friday, but I'll feel a bit better when those rolls show up...

Look at strength of the Japanese Yen rising over the US dollar for the past 4 years. What might have been a profitable model back then might have fallen out of economic sense right now. You have to admit, 2 dollars a roll is cheap as hell. If Fuji no longer makes enough money out of the re-branding venture with Freestyle then it only makes sense to cut it. Neopan400/LegacyPro400 sold the most because its popular, it lost the most money for them (possibly cannibalizing Fuji branded film) (or simply did not have enough profit margin). Whats left is the slower moving Acros/LegacyPro100.

There's still a huge market for film around Asia. You can see green Fuji minilab signs where ever you go. I just can't see Fuji doing a seppuku and quitting it just like that.
