I've been looking at geting some G lenses for my D700 and was a little worried by the price.
They're freakin' bargains compared to these babies! 😱
I guess all the people who actually managed to get hold of some of the more 'desirable' ones before this hit will be rubbing their hands together! 😀

Keith, get the 35mm f1.4 - it is truly a spectacular lens - and a bargain compared to Leica's ASPH FLE 🙂

Or that's what should happen IMO. 😛
The reality is that Leica lenses are selling for way more than this on the spot market. There is much more demand than supply.

Not proud are they. The stock market has not done well enough to keep up with the price increases at Leica.

No its the reverse the euro is now US$1.35 and quite low; no one wants to be in euros.
Leica prices no doubt reflect low volume and the new prices will guarantee even lower volume making Leica even more irrelevant than it already is. Very sad as it was a great marque. At least it hasn't been infiltrated by the yakuza like poor Olympus or run as badly as Kodak.

I don't think this is going to cost Leica volume at all.
It seems that Leica is very popular with the nouveau-riche of China. That's a lot of people willing to drop obscene amounts of money for a Western heritage brand.

Sadly, it will mean that CV/Zeiss will bump their prices as well - and why not, they're already thousands cheaper than Leica and demand is strong (particularly for lenses like the 35/2 Biogon).

I should have bought every lens I ever wanted when I was 20. This is insane.
Also why is Leica increasing their prices. Who can even find a Leica lens in stock anywhere. I swear when Zeiss is finally in stock I'm going to sell all my Leica lenses and just pick up the Zeiss equivalents and enjoy the extra spending money. I'm so tired of these insane prices for quality that's debatable.

So let's contemplate a nice digital RF kit based around the M9 ...
$6500.00 for the M9 body ... and let's choose a nice basic two lens kit ... no point in going over board!
A 50mm Summilux would be nice at $4000.00
Of course you'll need a good 35mm to match that ... so add another $5000.00
That gives you rather a nice setup ... mind you it would want to be at around $16000.00 by the time you get a couple of SD cards and a nice Luigi case to keep it all snug and safe!
Excuse me while I sweep up my lunch!

I cannot see how anyone can justify these prices . . . unless of course you have tons of money and you don't have to. The marginal difference in some of these lens to its competitor doesnt warrant the HUGE price difference, imo.
