There is a rumor of USA Leica price increases coming May 1st 2025.

Factual or not, Leica camera batteries in the US have taken off like a rocket recently.

Yes, even the Kantor clone batteries are up. This is the kind of service we used to get for our cow in the spring.

So what's the Trump Tariff on German cameras? Asking for a friend who is Just Curious...

I would now need two remortgages instead of only one to buy the new Leica of my choice. Good one!!

To reduce prices I guess Leica can do what Hermes and others luxury brands do as from the news scandal exposing where luxury product are actually made. Leica shifts production to China and 'finishes' the product in America where they then get the 'made in America' tag and potentially avoid tarrifs

I worked for a company which imported an item from Europe that was essential to their product, like bullets to a gun. This was not the case but close. A clever fellow in the export-import department changed the description of the item, still accurate, and reduced the duties to a fraction. Lots of legislation sounds a lot better than it is. Getting it implemented to do exactly as wished is a fevered dream.

I don’t think it’s a rumor. That data was specified in an e mail from Camera West this week. They said you could expect used prices to jump as well. I saw a chrome M4 from a well known seller the other day at $3000. 😬

An additional 10% price increase will make luxury goods seem even more luxurious :p

Chinese handbag exposé videos seem iffy: Why risk what might be a pretty good gig when they wouldn't be shipping directly to USA anyhow, but rather, to the EU, where value would be added in accordance with local labeling laws, and then this now-"European" product would be re-exported to USA at the lower 10% tariff rate.

Hard to tell w prices...could just be based on condition. Tamarkin has a used black chrome M4 for $2950. KEH has a chrome one for $2000. There's a bunch on Ebay from $1500 and up. There are many many M Leicas used and sitting.

Might finally get tempted to sell my M 240 if the prices go high enough. Love that camera but reality is is a (your choice of expletive)...
