Well-known
The ZM 25 is obviously well-regarded. The build quality is fine (the aperture ring is better IMHO). The optics are very good. Here's the first shot I took with it (just outside the shop

I don't have an external finder - I estimate the coverage as everything I can possibly see through the viewfinder (moving my head up/down, left/right). Not ideal - but I also find the idea of spending the cost of a VC lens on a finder off-putting.

PS. Any lack of contrast in the above picture is due to my inexpert developing. I guess there's a bit of flaring - but then I think that's the sun behind the leaves
(that was of course a deliberate flare resistance test).

I have never heard a negative word about the 21 or 25 biogons (ZM). The more I use my zeiss lenses alongside my 90 elmarit M the more I prefer the feel of the zeiss. Smoother focus, crisper aperture stops. I very much doubt that the 24 elmarit will offer you anything the 25 ZM cannot. I personally am waiting for the 21 4.5. I read a test which said it was even sharper than the 21 2.8 (whihc Putz gushed about) but more importantly should be smaller and cheaper.

Hello Jorge,
I agree that the 24 is a great performer but your pic shows some strange reddish halo effects around all reflection areas of the windows or other reflective surfaces. I guess this is a camera and not a lens issue...
I don't have any 21 or 24mm was just looking around expecting upcoming GAS.

It should be clear that the ZI lens is highly regarded and most agree you would be hard pressed to detect any difference in photos taken with it and the Leica 24. Why not buy the ZI and if you don't like it put it up for sale? I don't think you would have any problem selling it.
I have the 25mm ZI and use a CV external vf. I really like this lens. The build quality is excellent and the photos taken with this are superb.. The only flaw I found is the #!@?*&" lens cap. It's a peice of work and a half. My advice is to buy a UV or Skyllight filter for it.
I used the 24mm Leica for a few day and it's a wonderful lens. It too is well made and renders beautiful photographs. I had it on my wish list until I had a chance to use the 25mm ZI. It's no contest in my mind which lens represents the best value for the $$$.
Best Regards,
Bob
