Did anyone buy a 50th Anniversary M7? I saw an article in a magazine on the M7. I like how the titanium version looked. I believe the box set included a 50mm f1.4 lens. How much does it cost and whether you think it is a good purchase?

back a few months ago someone on here bought it (whos name I cant remember at the moment) and sold it pretty much the next day. Get the normal one. Its a hell of a lot cheaper and will do the same thing.

This is easy: are you a collector or a user? If the former, it's simply a matter of how badly you want it and/or the state of your bank account If the latter, forget about the "ti" and buy the standard-issue M7, and think of all the film you'll be able to buy with the difference. Beauty's only skin-deep. (Yeah, yeah, yeah...)

Don't go into debt for a camera if you are a hobbyist. That said, if you won't go into debt, pick up one of those titanium m7s asap and use it. the titanium m7 is 13% lighter and the titanium does not need to be babied, it has a sealing which reduces scratches and finger-prints. and, holy images, it does look smashing!

I think the Ti lenses that were made for the anniversary sets are milled titanium mounts, not like the titanium-plated brass ones of previous lenses, if I recall correctly. This would make them lighter than the black anodized aluminum standard lenses, and tougher too. Manufacturing costs would have been high on these sets, which is one reason they cost so much.

magus,
the info is on the leica site; you can see the comparative lens weights. the titanium is lighter and tougher according to leica's specification chart.
good cheer, thomasw

I have an Anniversary set. I use it and no "babying" is needed. I'm not sure if I notice the 13% weight saving - not having used a regular combination - but it still looks as good as the day I got it.
I had thought of buying an 'a la carte' M7 but the Titanium is just so seductive...I guess I probably paid a bit more, but not much.😛
