I'm looking at this lens to use with my M3 for portraiture and street shots. This focal lenght will be used occasionally thus the need for reasonably priced but good quality 90 mm. It's a slowish lens but I can live with it as long as it renders well in B&W and acceptable sharpness. Does anyone here have some sample pics using the lens? Any good or bad experience? Thanks.

I don't have any sample pics available, but I can tell you it is sharp and focuses fine on an M3 and M4-2. I is light and compact and was my primary travel tele lens. The only thing that bugged me was the rubber hood/lens cap combo and the series filters it took. The threads are not the same as on a standard 39mm filter, but it does fit on if care is taken not to over tighten it. Prices are usually pretty good on the CL/CLE lenses compared to those on M bodies.

The 90 for the Minolta CL was called a Rokkor-C but was made by Leitz in Germany. It's the same lens as the Elmar-C but usually sells for less. The 90mm lens for the Minolta CLE was made by Minolta and is multi-coated. They're all great lenses.

Elmar-C is a great lens for the money.

Drawbacks are slow speed and rubber hood.

It gives first class results and is small and light. Ideal travel lens.

Example images are in the link above. To be found at the end of the thread if you are in a hurry 🙂
