I like to think things work inversely in this matter.And they say size doesn't matter!

I get some attention with my Hexars, but the long stares begin when I break out the Auto S3...

I went out with two girls I met in the darkroom. That's about my experience. But I spent all my time in there. It was the only place I met anyone to strike up a conversation with.
I got to enjoy the company of 2 girls in a darkroom once......(rolls eyes....)
Sadly, that's one form of darkroom action I never got a chance at. And I wondered if the stuff a few friends bragged about were merely tall tales...last time I was in a darkroom was with my boss's wife --- many years ago --- i don't think we processed more than 1 roll in 3 hrs - nuff said
(And something else kids of the digital age will miss out on)

I had similar experiences with RF Foöders like the Moskva 4 & 5. Perhaps there is some kind of typology behind that.
RF MF-folder = cuddly bear
Leica M3 = As classic as a Martini, an Aston Martin, a Walther PPK &....
Bessas = not just as cool as an Aston Martin or a Jaguar..
RF-folder 35mm = ?

This has menage-a-trois written all over it. Don’t screw it up, keep us informed.
(it’s NEVER about the camera)
I will...though not sure we will get back...

"Rolleiflexes are the true babe magnes"
This is very true.
I've only ever (alas) attracted relevant comment when out with one. Memorably:
(a) Rome May 2005: (purposeful approach from attractive young American woman): "hey, would you much mind if I looked down at your ground glass?";
(b) Southport (UK) last year, smiley girl aged about 26: "you look gorgeous with that around your neck" (!!);
(c) Amsterdam, last month; nice woman in late 30's or so: "Hey--Rollei! Great thing, lovely! Will you take my picture?" (I did).
Very flattering to the likes of me. But it makes you think: why...--?

Another reason to pack the Leica M3 (or the Nikon F with the eyelevel prism for that matter), I should try that sometime.

A Leica is a good start but if you really want to attract some company, try a Rolleiflex. Europe, US, doesn't seem to matter you will draw comments and conversation partners.

I got a phone number of a beautiful woman in a bar after I took her picture with my Bessa R. I might have mentioned to her that I was looking for models. Wow, I had a lot to drink that night.

No...just position yourself at the very end of the bar, nursing a Stella, with a Super Technika in plain sight. And, try licking your eyebrows from time to time.I thought the Holga was the ultimate chick magnet? They're popular among the 20-somethings....

Havent had too much attention because of my cameras as I remember, but some attention due to always carrying some camera or other.
Some days ago, though, I met an old flame who is a photographer as well... Should I be offended because she gave my M8 a compliment and left out on me???
Anyway, my M8 gets lots of attention and menage a trois in the studio:

And next time is tomorrow - good thing an M8 very rarely breaks down!

Yeah, in my experience the TLR gets by far the most attention from the young artsy ladies wanting to see and know more about the camera. The RF whether Leica or RD1 gets equal attention from either gender, usually along the lines of "cool. old school." The Hassy only gets the attention old gearhead guys like me. The big DSLR just gets "are you a photographer?"
Of course, I'd prefer not to draw attention at all...

I was told that I had a "cool video camera" by a docent at Donald Judd's Chinati Foundation in west Texas. I was sporting a Rollei 6006.

What a nice little lens - what's that ?
What a nice little lens - what's that ?
Last Sat. in Soho [NYC] a young lady schlepping something digital with a zoom lens was drooling over my M6 with the 2/50 Planar. With the high humidity and maybe close to 95deg F she clearly was not enjoying the 4lbs gear around her little neck. So she envied my handy combination but there was nothing more than a few words - and no exchange of phone #
