It is doubtful I will get any sleep tonight if the rumored M10 is a B&W only camera and there is no LCD.

Funny thing is that I'm a die hard B&W fim only kinda guy and was going to sell mucho gear to get a chrome M9P.

For me its a game changer. I hope the rumor is true.

This is good news if its really true. I would love to see a b&w sensor with low ISO 25/50 capability rather than chase the high ISO craze. hmmm.

A B&W M10 that looked like a MP could be a worthy dream.
The theme of the event is 'Leica the essentials'

Remove the LCD - then it can be as thin as the classic Ms.
Use the mechanical shutter cock lever - like the Classic M and Epson RD1.
No need for any mode dials or color balance - just the shutter speed, A and ISO.

If it is full frame and retains the optical RF I will be in.

There's just no way anyone is going to make a digital camera without an LCD screen. I'm doubtful about a B&W only model. But that's infinitely more likely than a digital without an LCD.

that is the same site that wrote about the BS thread I started last year about an M9.5 and the new Voigtlander 35 f/1.1. The site is a big unrealiable joke. What's really going to happen is Leica is adopting Sony's 24-29mb full-frame sensor along with some of the titanium functions. It will be nice, expensive and create more pixel envy than ever before.

I step off my soap box now.

ps: a true BW sensor might be neat. but I have an M8 and still prefer film.

😀 I can only assume this is one of the 'surprises' Leica will be pulling off their sleeve besides a true new M10. But I hate to admit I like the thought of a true b/w digital rangefinder camera.

The best thing Leica could do for their M10 is take the M9 and make it reliable and sort out that crappy LCD screen, Its embarrassing for them to have a £5000 camera with a screen far worse than a £200 P+S.

Theoretically I think it should be cheaper, since it wouldn't require the CFA to be added. However, practically, since you'd be making and selling fewer sensors compared to a color sensor, it probably costs more.

I'd love an LCDless digital, that can bluetooth to an iphone/android device with an app for chimping and menu setting: better battery life for shooting, thinner, more robust. An advance lever to recock the shutter, and wow, that would be hugely tempting for me.

Yes! I'm not certain how I'd go for a strictly black and white digital, but man would I like to have a manual lever for the shutter.

what would be the benefit of a b&w only sensor (less noise)? I wouldn't never ever buy a camera that can only take b&w pictures (even the most stupid made of plastics Smena can be loaded with color film)... or am I missing something important here??? 😀
