I've seen this guy's auctions before. It seems he's sold his wares before. Now, I can't recall the details of the previous sales but THIS ONE takes the price.

I simply wonder how much he'll pay to eBay for posting the auction... Any ideas?

I don't know, but it sure does make me glad to have the Contax virus instead of the Leica one! Yikes! :D

Oh, sure! I've seen actually different versions of the same auction. In fact, a tame one, ran for something like $24,000.

There's also a 1956 MP with a 'cron (seller claims it's the "original"), going for (gasp!!) $45,000.

And here I am, selling one of my old lenses for $85... :(

I can always post one of my M6TTL, spiffit up some way or another, and pay off the mortgage on my house. :)

Sure... That eBay fee will make the eBay managers very happy!

I can't believe that ebay is the best place to sell this collection, or that MP. There are enough high end auction houses that would do a much better job.

Not to mention that the seller will have to pay a fee to PayPal too!

This stinks. As said above, it's not worthy to offer it on e-bay. I don't think he's actually selling that collection.

I think the submission fees are capped at a fairly low number - $4.80 for items over $500, plus whatever details he's purchased (bold lettering, slide show, etc.) He could have put that in there for less than $15, I think.

Should he ever sell it for that kind of money, though, he would owe a final value fee of over $1,000. (I'm sure he wouldn't mind paying it, but I don't see him ever selling that collection for $70K)

AFAIK this is a Dutch leica salesman who has been trying to get rid of these cameras for a long, long time. Really funny.

You'd think he could do just as well by breaking up the package and selling the cameras individually. It would be nice to have the entire collection but I don't know of too many people with that sort of scratch to drop on a collection of Leica bodies.

As for fees... if he can afford to own such a collection he probably isn't hurting too much for funds. And, if he's in the business... he can probably deduct the cost of the listings from his taxes.
