Hi
Was wondering if you could verify.

Which leica baseplates are interchangeable with which bodies?
Why do some baseplates have the German words for open and close? Which bodies do they originally belong to?

many thanks guys!

The IIIc and early IIIf share the same. Late IIIf's after s/n 570xxx and the IIIg are interchangable.

I believe the first Leicas through IIIb can be interchanged. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The M1-3 share a base plate.

Those with Auf and Zu were sold mainly in the European market while the others (open/close) were sold in the rest of the world.

I'm not sure about the ones with both markings.

Lost my plate last year for my m6 ttl and bought one on ebay for $150. M6 only fits M6. I ended up with a silver plate on my black body because i didnt want to spent $298:bang: for a new one from Leica.
