Leica CLA in Japan???

Hi all...

I can't really afford to ship my M3 to Sherry or Dag... and was wondering if there are any good places/shops/individuals in Japan that would do a nice CLA of my aging M3? (sticky slow speeds)

You think it would be cheaper to do a CLA here than to send it out? Camera repairs are insanely expensive from what I've seen. Shipping ems to the US is only 30 or so devalued dollars. If you can speak Japanese fairly well, Hayata labo in Asakusa does repairs but you need to join and that is about 5,000 yen.

I had the same problem(s) and decided to ship my Leicas to Youxin Ye. Turnaround was usually 10 days (Japan -> USA -> Japan) and the service and communication was very good. Some search in the internet for CLA (Leica) here in Japan came up with prices in the range of 45.000 Yen (incl. shutter curtain replacement) and ~ 4 weeks waiting time.

Youxin's CLA is very good ! I had sent him 3 cameras in total (M3, M4-P, and M4) and all came back like new. Since it is holiday time now, it may take some time for sending it to him and back.
